Application Process

Call for Applications! The Mother House Fund Seeds of Compassion Youth Grant Program applications are due by March 31, 2012.

It’s that time of year again! We are excited to announce a call for applications for our special initiative program targeting Puget Sound-area teens. The Mother House Fund is now accepting applications for our Seeds of Compassion Youth Grant Program. Seed grants are intended to help teens working with community organizations jumpstart new local or international projects; or, continue current projects just gaining momentum, yet already proving of value. For all other grant requests unrelated to our Seeds of Compassion special initiative: please send us a one- to two-page letter of inquiry describing your organization and your services. Your letter should include your full contact information, including an e-mail address. Upon review of your letter, The Mother House Fund will provide a formal grant application via e-mail to selected organizations. If you are asked to submit a full application, The Mother House Fund staff carefully reviews the content, and often contacts the applicant to learn more about their organization. After the review process, Janet Smith and Advisory Committee members discuss the selection of applicants and make grant decisions. A grant decision typically is made within three months after the receipt of a completed application.

Please submit your letter of inquiry through our contact form.

Granting Schedule and Timeline
Letters of inquiry and grant requests not associated with our special initiative programs are accepted anytime throughout the year. If you received funding from The Mother House Fund within the last year, we ask that you wait at least 12 months from the time you received your last grant before submitting another letter of inquiry. The application deadline for our Seeds of Compassion Youth Grant Program is the last day in March each year, and grants are decided upon by mid-May. Our goal is to have letters and checks in the mail during the first week of June to provide for a one year (July-June) timeline, which we have found aligns well with the school year and business of being a busy and productive teenager.

Application Assistance
After reviewing the grant guidelines and frequently asked questions, feel free to contact us if you need assistance or are still unsure whether your organization might be eligible for funding.
